(My
first time traveling by plane)
Are you afraid
of airplanes? Great things never come from comfort zones. You have nothing to
lose and a world to see.
When I was
seven, I went on vacation to Panama. I remember that the day before I was so
excited that I couldn't sleep much, even
though I went to sleep early. The next day I got up early to make sure all my
things were ready for the trip. I was ready at five in the morning to catch an
early flight from Mariscal Sucre airport. I was so excited that I didn't care
that I was very sleepy. My mom, dad, brother, and I went to the airport. My dad
was driving whereas my brother and I slept. Arriving at the airport my heart
was pounding. We had to wait a long time in a waiting room, but it didn't
matter much to me because I was so excited. To be honest I was also feeling a
bit nervous, because I had seen some movies where there were plane crashes and
it scared me and that made me feel very restless for a moment.
After a while we
had to wait in line to get our tickets and then we deliver our bags. My family
and I went to another room to wait for the boarding call. One of the
stewardess, who was wearing a black suit, white blouse and multi-colored scarf,
welcomed us. I sat next to my brother and my dad next to my mom. My brother and
I planned to watch movies while we were flying. When the plane started to move,
I got more and more scared because the engines roared.
I felt that my
legs began to shake as the plane moved faster and faster down the runway. When
the plane started to rise my stomach knotted and I just closed my eyes and held
my brother's hand tightly. After a moment, I calmed down and could enjoy the
view. It was very nice to see the whole city from above, everything looked so
small. After a few minutes, only the clouds were visible.
During the trip, the hostesses served us a delicious snack with a refreshing drink. The smell of food was irresistible, as was the smell of coffee, but my parents wouldn't let me have it. I was so hungry, that I thought that was the yummiest sandwich I had ever tried, it had juicy meat with an exquisite sauce and tasty vegetables.
After about two
hours, we landed. That was one of the best experiences of my life and I was
able to overcome my fear, since in the following plane trips that I did, I felt
much safer.
