Michelle Obama's
Best Advice for Students | How To Succeed In Life
Michelle Obama
is an iconic figure, a lawyer and writer who was the first African American
woman to hold the office of First Lady of the United States. She had many good
acts and speeches that inspired many people. Next I will give the reasons why I
chose this speech.
To start with,
she has always believed in the power of books and classrooms, which is why, she
leaded many educational initiatives to encourage young people to continue their
studies after finishing high school. She wants us to realize how we plan to
live our life every day, if we don't get what we wanted. She makes us think
what would happen if things do not go as planned, if they are more complicated,
if what we achieved did not give the results we expected. She makes us realize
that those difficult moments are the ones that really define us. It is not the
day you receive medals or diplomas, but the moments in which they force us to
fight like never before to get what we want, when we get knocked down and
wonder if it's worth getting up again. That's when we must know who we are
going to be.
Moreover she
explains to us that our skills like resilience and awareness can be just as
important or more to our success than our test scores or even our IQ. So she
shows us that if we are willing to get up when we fall, if we are willing to
work until turn our weaknesses into strengths, then we will be ready for any
job, for overcoming difficult situations, for overcoming the crises that come
in our lives. But above all, I chose this speech because what Michelle Obama
teaches us is that a person's values, such as honesty, responsibility, empathy,
solidarity, love for his country, are more important than his intellectual
capacity and his level social and economic, and that these are the type of
people that are needed to move a country forward. It doesn't matter if you
didn't study in a private institution, what matters is the kind of human being
you are.
That is why I
chose this speech, I think that if more people listen to this speech,
especially young people, they can be inspired and learn not to give up and move
on. When students complete their education, they have the basis to build a
successful life, but it is also essential to grow in values to be useful people
to society.
